TerrameritaviPlain-English guides to health, Medicare and money after 60

How we write our guides

Last updated October 22, 2026

Readers come to Terrameritavi for information that affects their health and their money. These are the standards we follow for every guide.

Who we write for

We write for adults 60 and older and the people who support them. We aim for short paragraphs, clear headings, everyday words and a summary of key points at the top of each guide.

How a guide is made

  1. Choose a real question. Topics come from common reader questions and from changes to rules and programs.
  2. Research official sources. We rely first on government and nonprofit sources such as Medicare.gov, SSA.gov, IRS.gov, the National Institute on Aging, the CDC, the FDA and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
  3. Write in plain English. We explain terms, give practical steps and point readers to free help, such as State Health Insurance Assistance Programs and Area Agencies on Aging.
  4. Check facts and figures. Dollar amounts, dates and eligibility rules are checked against the sources listed at the end of the guide.
  5. Review before publishing. A member of our team reviews each guide for accuracy, clarity and tone before it goes live.

We may use software tools, including AI writing assistants, to help with research, drafting and editing. A person on our team reviews every guide, and we are responsible for everything we publish.

What we avoid

  • Claims that a product or habit can cure, prevent or reverse a disease
  • Promises of guaranteed savings or "secret" benefits
  • Sensational or misleading headlines
  • Content written to sell a specific product

Health information

Our health guides are general information for everyday wellbeing. They are not a substitute for advice from your doctor or another qualified health professional, and we encourage readers to talk with their care team before changing exercise, diet or medications.

Keeping guides up to date

Medicare costs, Social Security amounts and tax figures change every year. We review money and benefits guides when new figures are announced, typically each fall and January, and the "Updated" date at the top of a guide shows when it was last revised. If a figure applies only to a particular year, we say which year.

Corrections

If you spot an error or something out of date, please contact us. We correct factual errors promptly and update the guide's date.

Independence from advertising

Terrameritavi is supported by advertising, including sponsored content recommendations. Advertisers have no say in which topics we cover or what our guides say. Ads are clearly labeled. See our advertising disclosure.
